Ahmed Rashed Keynote speaker at the ICME IC Day held on 17 December 2025 (ICOM Dubai 2025)

It was an honor to serve as the keynote speaker at the ICME IC Day held on 17 December at Al Shindagha District, Dubai, as part of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) program.

My keynote introduced a renewed scientific perspective on Civilization Rights and the emerging discipline of Civilizology, proposing an innovative framework that redefines the relationship between museums and heritage. The talk emphasized the need to liberate artifacts from outdated legal structures that have long detached them from their original environments.

I highlighted the principles of the Global Charter of Civilization Rights, particularly the right of every artifact to remain—or return to—its authentic environmental context, as a foundation for cultural sovereignty and civilizational justice in the face of migration and climate challenges.

My sincere appreciation goes to the Al Shindagha Museum team for their warm welcome, to ICME for fostering this essential global dialogue, and to all participants and panelists who enriched the conversation on the evolving role of museums and community empowerment.
