Henrico, VA, USA [Sep 30, 2024] – The Civilization Rights Institute (CRI) is pleased to announce that its Founding President, Dr. Ahmed Rashed, has now fully dedicated himself to his role at CRI after resigning from his position as a professor of Architecture at the British University in Egypt. Recognizing his remarkable leadership and vision, the board members of CRI have voted to extend his presidency until the end of December 2026.
Dr. Rashed brings 40 years of academic and professional experience in architecture, urban planning, heritage conservation, and sustainability. His profound expertise and dedication to civilization studies have been instrumental in shaping the institute's mission and initiatives. As the Founding President of CRI, Dr. Rashed has successfully led various programs and projects, making significant strides in promoting civilization rights and sustainable development worldwide.
In addition to his work with CRI, Dr. Rashed has held key positions, such as the Founding Director of the Farouk El-Baz Center for Sustainability and Future Studies at the British University in Egypt, and Chair of Architecture Engineering Departments at BUE and Mansoura Universities. His international consultancy work, spanning over 35 projects in sustainability, green technologies, heritage conservation, and urban planning, has made him a respected authority in his field.
Dr. Rashed's research and community-driven initiatives have received support and recognition from leading domestic and international agencies, including the British Council, USAID, the European Union, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). With an active research agenda focused on sustainability, green development, and resilience, he continues to innovate and inspire.

Dr. Rashed's extensive educational background includes a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of York (UK), an MS in Architecture from the University of Assiut (Egypt), and postgraduate studies at King Saud University (Saudi Arabia). As an author of over 60 scholarly articles and a frequent guest on media outlets, his influence extends far beyond academia into the realms of policy, community development, and sustainability.
