The Sustainable Development Goals end in 2030. By the United Nations’ own count, nearly two thirds of the targets we can measure are moving too slowly or going backward. The world is already drafting what comes next — and the Civilization Rights Institute is putting a proposal on that table.
Today we release Civilization Resilience: Our Agenda for the Future, a five-minute explainer setting out the Institute’s position for the post-2030 era.
The argument is simple. Progress is counted target by target, but civilizations rise or fall as whole systems. Civilization resilience is the capacity of a civilization to withstand sudden shocks and long pressures, to recover, and to keep learning, adapting and growing — preparedness for transformation, not merely survival through crisis.
The Institute proposes that the agenda after 2030 rest on the principles of civilization rights, and that at the very least every goal gain a civilizational dimension. The Goals promise to leave no one behind; we would extend that promise — leave no civilization behind, not its people, not its knowledge, not its heritage.
The explainer is available in English and Arabic. We invite governments, UN agencies, universities, NGOs and partners to examine it, challenge it, and build it with us.
